Sometimes the most useful AI system starts with a clear, predictable workflow. Anthropic’s public guidance distinguishes workflows, where steps are defined in advance, from agents that choose their own next steps. The practical lesson: start simple, then add autonomy only when it improves results. Before trusting an automated task, decide what a correct result looks like, test it on representative examples and keep human approval around consequential actions. More freedom can mean more cost and uncertainty. The interesting question is not “Can AI do more?” but “Where does it reliably help?”
